Rubbish Collection
Council does not provide a rubbish "pick up" service to land owners. Private contractors provide this service. (contractor numbers)
Dumps
Council provides three transfer stations for landowners to deposit their own rubbish at (phone numbers + map)
- Howard Springs on Howard Springs Road
- Humpty Doo on Spencely Road
- Berry Springs on Cox Peninsula Road
All sites are currently open between the hours of 6:00am and 7:00pm.
Charges
General Rubbish per tonne compacted $70.00 (GST exclusive)
Skip bin uncompacted $60.00 (GST exclusive)
Recycling
Each transfer station has the facility for recycling of :
- glass
- aluminum cans,
- waste oil,
- batteries
- poisons drums (triple rinsed)
Scavenging rights belong to the contractor C.S. Services
The relatively small volume of rubbish combined with the cost to transport recycled goods to known markets limits the adoption of a more formalised approach to the recycling process.
Green Waste
Council encourages the recycling of green waste at home as the volume of green waste at tip sites can be a significant problem.
